HAPC Pastors lead new Ministerial Advisory Board to the Mayor of Houston

Houston Area Pastor Council leaders and pastors F.N. Williams Sr., F. N. Williams II, Willie Davis (now At Large City Council Pos. 2), Hernan Castano and Dave Welch met with Houston Mayor John Whitmire as part of the launch of an exciting new phase for church/city relationship in the fourth largest city in America!  The Ministerial Advisory Board to the Mayor of Houston (MAB) existed from 1992 to 2009, consisted exclusively of a core group of Black pastors and was essentially shut down by Annise Parker when she was elected Mayor.

With the election of Pastor Davis to City Council and former Senator Whitmire as Mayor, we initiated discussions of relaunching the MAB, however this time with it "looking like the city" to bring "every color, every corner" of pastors to the team as HAPC has led the way in doing over the past twenty one years.

The MAB will be meeting monthly with Mayor Whitmire and developing a collaborative plan on what The Church can bring to the city to address critical issues such as explosion of crime, crisis and disaster response, integrity and efficiency to city services, and much more.

For years we had to be "salt" and because we never left the ground but stayed engaged, the Lord has opened the door to bring the "light" - and The Light back to City Hall!
