Nearly two hundred pastors, elected officials, candidates, and leaders heard an information-packed briefing from U.S. Senator Ted Cruz and a strong charge from his father Rev. Rafael Cruz, at a special breakfast hosted by Houston Area Pastor Council at Houston’s First Baptist Church on August 26. As always, pastors of “every color, every corner” came together for this event that served as an informal launch to the 2024 Fall election season.
Pastor T. Leon Preston of Yale Street Baptist Church church and a city leader opened the program with prayer, Pastor Hernan Castano preached a dynamic biblical call for pastors to stand, and HFBC Senior Pastor Gregg Matte gave a wonderful and personal introduction for his church member, Senator Cruz. The program concluded with Rev. Cruz and HAPC founder Rev. Dave Welch laying out action items for churches engaging our voters for November and Pastor Garrett Booth of Grace Church Houston calling pastors and wives forward to pray over Senator Cruz.
The video of the program, including Senator Cruz’s complete remarks, will be posted at www.uspastorcouncil.org when ready. We urge pastors and friends of USPC to share it as widely as possible and avail yourself of our resources on our FaithVotes page to help maximize our informed, educated church voters to biblical values for the November 5 election!
